iPhone Settings for Hotmail, MSN, Live.com etc.

First step: Register with IzyMail.
Next step: Configure Mail as outlined below.

Open the Mail application and tap on Other.

To create a 2nd profile, tap Settings-Mail-Add Account

iPhone 3G only:
Enter your name, Hotmail address and Hotmail password.

iPhone 3G only:
This potentially misleading message can be safely ignored. Tap [OK]

iPhone 3G:
Scroll back up to see the IMAP POP buttons. The Exchange button is no longer present.

For fast and easy email download, tap on POP.

IMAP is possible, but tends to be slow and more complex to handle.

Enter your full name and your email address.
The account description will be filled automatically.

Enter the incoming server name in.izymail.com
Your email address is also your user name.

Enter the outgoing server name out.izymail.com
Your email address is also your user name.

Attention: Major Internet providers (Comcast, MSN, AOL, and many others …) block outgoing mail on its regular port 25.

If port 25 is unavailable, the [Save] operation (below) will take a very long time. Set the outgoing server name to: out.izymail.com:587

The delay is an issue of the iPhone itself and there is nothing we can do about it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Tap [Save] and wait …
This can take a very long time!!

The iPhone will try various methods to connect to the incoming mail server which can take a considerable amount of time ….

… until the dialog appears. Tap [Yes] and wait …

The iPhone will repeat the process for outgoing mail which can take even longer, up to several minutes … … …

… until the dialog appears again. Tap [Yes] and wait …

Finally, the iPhone will start downloading messages. This step, at least, does not require confirmation …

When using IMAP and if your mailbox is pretty full, there can be another significant delay until the messages appear. This one-time delay is (partly) caused by the iPhone itself. We are investigating options to speed up the process. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Advanced settings

Return to Settings to control various aspects of mail retrieval, specifically the iPhone's behaviour when messages are deleted:

Συναρπαστικά νέα για τους κατόχους και επίδοξους αγοραστές του iPhone 3G! Η Dev Team κατάφερε να κάνει downgrade τo modem Firmware του iPhone 3G!

iPhone v2.1 Pwned by Dev-Team

Αν και δεν έχει ακόμη κυκλοφορήσει (η iPhone Firmware v2.1), η Dev-Team δηλώνει πως δεν θα υπάρχει κανένα πρόβλημα με το unlock/jailbreak της!

Για του λόγου το αληθές, δημοσίευσαν στο blog τους ένα screen-shot στο οποίο βλέπουμε ένα unlocked iPhone 1st gen να τρέχει την beta iPhone firmware v2.1:

Τα καλά νέα δεν σταματούνε εδώ, καθώς σύμφωνα με την Dev-Team, το Pwnage θα συνεχίσει να λειτουργεί σε ΟΛΕΣ τις επόμενες iPhone version!

Όπως δηλώνουν οι ίδιοι: ‘So far Pwnage has worked for 1.1.4, all eight (!) 2.0 betas, 2.0 itself, and now 2.1 beta1‘.

iPhone v2.1 Firmware brings Copy/Paste (?)

Εξερευνώντας το Localizable.strings του νέου iPhone WebKit framework μπορεί κανείς να βρει αναφορές, μέσα στο English.lproj, σχετικές με εντολές των οποίων οι λειτουργίες δεν υποστηρίζονται από το τωρινό iPhone Firmware!

Ποιές είναι αυτές; Cut, Copy & Paste!

Από ότι φαίνεται θα δούμε το πολυαναμενόμενο copy&paste στην iPhone v2.1!

iPhone Game: Labyrinth (216 levels for free!)

Το Labyrinth Lite Edition πιθανότατα το έχετε ήδη κατεβάσει. Πρόκειται για ένα από τα free games του App store το οποίο όμως έχει τον περιορισμό των 10 levels. Η full έκδοση του Labyrinth κοστίζει 5.49€ και διαθέτει 500 levels!

Εάν θέλετε κάτι παραπάνω από 10 levels αλλά δεν θέλετε να πληρώσετε για ένα game το οποίο είχατε μέχρι πριν από λίγες ημέρες δωρεάν μέσω του Installer, διαβάστε παρακάτω:

iPhone 2.1 Firmware with enhanced GPS Features (plus new SDK)

H Apple έχει ήδη διαθέσει την iPhone Firmware v2.1 (5f90) σε επιλεγμένους developers!

Η beta version του iPhone 2.1 Firmware (Beta 1, Build 5F90) διαθέτει κάποια νέα features όπως:

- Aναβαθμισμένα CoreLocation features, γεγονός που μας αφήνει να ελπίζουμε για turn-by-turn GPS λειτουργίες!

- API’s για τον Notification Server, ο οποίος αναμένεται τον Σεπτέβριο. Ο Notification Server θα καλύψει το κενό του background multitasking, το οποίο και απαγορεύει η Apple, αφού μέσω αυτού θα μεταφέρονται στιγμιαία (?) alerts και sounds των apps (βλ. Instant Messages, Tweets).

iPhone 3G (RED): Σύμφωνα με τις τελευταίες φήμες αναμένεται να κυκλοφορήσει την περίοδο των Χριστουγεννιάτικων εορτών.*

Η σειρά (Product)^RED έχει δημιουργηθεί με σκοπό να βοηθήσει τα θύματα του ιού HIV/AIDS στην Αφρική.

*Έχετε δίκιο… είναι πολύ νωρίς για να συζητάμε το τι θα κυκλοφορήσει την περίοδο των Χριστουγεννιάτικων εορτών αλλά δεν μπορούσαμε να αντισταθούμε!

WinPwn v2.0.0.3 released

Εχτές παρουσιάσαμε το WinPwn v2.0.0.1. Σήμερα θα αναφερθούμε στο WinPwn v2.0.0.3 και στο τι αλλαγές επιφέρει η νέα του έκδοση:

WinPwn 2.0.0.3 new features/fixes:

Cydia/XP/Writing root FS bug.

Failed to remove ipsw directory after a ipswBuild failure.

iPwner now only accepts custom ipsws.

Remove 345 ipsw support. WinPwn only supports 347 2.0 ipsw’s.

Geohot on iPhone’s 3G bl5.8

O Geohot δημοσίευσε ένα πολύ ενδιαφέρον post για τον bootloader 5.8:

The 3G bootloader is sig checked by the bootrom. So even removing the NOR and patching the bootloader (to remove main fw sig checks) and main firmware doesn’t work for an unlock. Big thanks to TA_Mobile for dumping the NOR and confirming this. You have some real skills.

The X-Gold 608 is the chip used. The lame “datasheet” infineon gives us shows the hardware RSA and the secure bootrom. So we have a real problem. Even if we find an unsigned code exploit, which wasn’t done for the previous two bootloaders in software (we found tricks to play with the nor), we still can’t unlock.

O Jonathan zdziarski έδωσε σε κυκλοφορία ένα update (μέσω του Cydia) για το NES emulator το οποίο διαθέτει ένα πολύ ξεχωριστό feature. Ποιό είναι αυτό; Accelerometer support για όλα τα games!

Ο χειρισμός των χαρακτήρων μέσω του iPhone accelerometer δίνει πραγματικά μία άλλη διάσταση σε γερασμένα/χιλιοπαιγμένα games :-)
